Pays du Gois Bike and Run
The Pays du Gois Bike & Run is back for its eighth edition this year, and is beginning to make its mark as a major sporting event in north-western Vendée.
The Bike & Run is a sporting event involving teams of two: one on foot, the other on a bike. Over a given distance, the two partners exchange bikes as they see fit, the aim being to cross the finish line together. It's a fun way to develop team spirit and strengthen cohesion.
Four events are on the programme
Two different races will start at 9.30 a.m. on a route through the hedged farmland and wooded paths of Beauvoir sur Mer :
- 10km XS race (open to over-13s)
- 20km S race (simultaneous start - open to over-15s).
The 'Chiquottes' race (6/9 year-olds) will start at 11.30am for 1200m. At 11.45am, it will be the turn of the "Drôles" (8/13 year-olds) to start for 2400m around the Sports Complex.
An unchanged route for this new edition
A brand new adult route was introduced last year to add even more excitement to the event. It will be used again this year, following positive feedback from athletes who ran it in 2023. As well as offering a longer loop (10km, compared with 9km in previous years), with alternating road and greasy paths, the route will include a 200-metre section of the new municipal cyclocross track, located within the Sports Complex.
New features for this year's event
Adults and children wishing to take part no longer need to make an appointment with their GP to provide a medical certificate. However, a health information form (to be completed online) will be required for all registrations.
